Working Hand in Hand event honors those with 40 or more years of service

The Auxiliary of Lenox Hill Hospital raised more than $75,000 at its annual benefit, which was held on May 2nd at the Yale Club of New York City. The event – Working Hand in Hand – honored members of the Auxiliary who have devoted 40 or more years of service to the all-volunteer organization, as well as the hospital’s senior associate executive director, Elaine J. Rosenblum, RN for her stewardship.

Proceeds from the annual benefit will provide continuing support for Northwell Health’s three Manhattan campuses: Lenox Hill Hospital; Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital; and Lenox Health Greenwich Village. The funds sponsor such endeavors as continuing education courses for nurses and staff, a summer internship program for high school students, recognition awards for exceptional hospital personnel, medical research projects, community events and various art initiatives.

More than 150 guests enjoyed a festive evening of cocktails, dinner and a silent auction, which featured such sought-after items as tickets to live performances and sporting events, makeover consultations, and a selection of restaurant gift certificates. Attendees also had the chance to peruse a historical timeline that highlighted the organization’s support of the hospital’s past endeavors, as well as its future initiatives, like the Lenox Hill redevelopment project.

The honorees, whose years of service range from 41 to 59, included Erika Aron (42), Cissy Asch (41), Susan Baker (43), Susan Cannold (43), Marcia Gowen (52), Patricia Hosckler (46), Sally Kesseler (59), Ellen Marcus (43), Ellen Metzendorf (41), Gloria Silver (46), Ann Wimpfheimer (50), Francine Wilson (44) and senior associate executive director Elaine Rosenblum, RN, who has been at Lenox Hill since 2011. Of the 12 Auxilians being honored, three are former Auxiliary chairs and four are United Hospital Fund awardees.

“The honorees’ collective strength is in their years of dedication to the mission of the Auxiliary, something they share in common and that each has excelled at,” said Auxiliary chair, Jill Ehrenberg. “And Elaine is our guiding light – a skilled and talented administrator whose can-do nursing spirit ensured that the Auxiliary maintained its own unique character and mission while becoming a valued part of Northwell Health.”

From its establishment as the Ladies Aid society to today, the all-volunteer Auxiliary of Lenox Hill Hospital has been supporting the hospital, its patients and staff, and the local community for more than 150 years.
