Sharon Joy, MBA, has been named regional Chief Financial Officer for Northwell Health’s Western Region and site finance executive for its Manhattan facilities. Ms. Joy will provide strategic financial operations oversight to the health system’s Manhattan, Staten Island and Westchester facilities, which include Lenox Hill Hospital, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, Lenox Health Greenwich Village, Staten Island University Hospital, Northern Westchester Hospital, and Phelps Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Joy is a 10-year veteran of Northwell Health. She was previously the Chief Financial Officer of Formativ Health, Northwell’s joint venture practice management services company, where she was responsible for providing leadership in the development and implementation of operational strategies and financial objectives.
Prior to that, she led financial operations for Northwell’s ambulatory division, which includes the medical group Physician Partners, imaging facilities, cancer institutes, dialysis sites and the health system’s clinical joint ventures. Ms. Joy has also been serving on the Joint Board of the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell for the past eight years, a position she will continue to hold.
Before joining Northwell, Ms. Joy spent 13 years in operational roles of progressive responsibility at Cornell University Medical Center before transitioning to finance at New York Presbyterian Hospital, where she spent six years in financial planning with accountability for seven network hospitals. She continued her career at Continuum Health Partners as Senior Vice President for Corporate Finance with a direct report to the health system CFO before joining Northwell in 2008.
Ms. Joy earned her Bachelor’s degree in public health from City College of New York and her MBA in healthcare administration from Baruch College/Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma National Business Honor Society and Healthcare Financial Management Association.
